Story Board Finale

So after a long wait the Animation is finally finished.

So how did this all come about.

First came the character files.

Having multiple files of different view points, perspectives, and colors, I did not need to then puppet warp any of my assets nor redraw the backgrounds that have already been set in stone.

Using the background I set my assets up to the positions that they will need to be in for their scene. Then since I have the arms set as separate assets from the body, I can move them freely without concern for distorting the images. screen-shot-2016-12-20-at-8-12-51-pm

Then, once the scenes have been complete, I collected them all together and strung them in Premier To create the video.

Since many of you have probably not read my web novel, ( I wish I could leave a link to it but the site is down until grades come in) Allow me to explain the scenes.

Scene 1

Spades (the young lass) needs to get ready for a ball. She looks into the mirror to make sure she is presentable. Then she realizes that she is not and must change into an out for the ball.

Scene 2

Spades walks to he closet to choose a dress as he guard Scarr sits on the window sill as he always does. Spades trusts Scarr a great deal and since she has not seen her mother in several years, she relies on Scarr approval for a great deal of things. thus why she asks him for help.

Scene 3

Spades opens the door and chuckles out of the thought that she would get to play dress up. The fact that Scarr is still on the window ledge should be remembered and him peering over is more of a thing for comedic effect.

Scene 4

Spades goes through three dresses (two of which were hand drawn. I gave up, not on drawing but on coloring since it was far too time consuming and I am very familiar with altering colors) all of which get rejected. It was not until I began writing this post that I realized that I forgot to include Scarr’s eyebrows, But It was too late to change that.

Scene 5

Spades in a sense, forgets what she is doing and changes into a summer night gown. Scarr reminds her what she is supposed to be doing and when she looks down, she is completely surprised and embarrassed that she wobbles away. This awkward walking scene if supposed to look by all means strange since is embarrassed and feels awkward.

Scene 6

returning to main focus, Spades returns to trying on clothes only to end back on the first dress she had on with the approval form Scarr.

Scene 7

this scene fills in the gap of spades looking around her room, trying to remember what else she had to do only to find herself looking back into the mirror and repeating the whole process again.

Animating this piece was not an easy feet, nor was it a difficult issue. To me, it felt like second nature. What killed me was the coloring. It pointed out the fact that I need to learn better ways of coloring and illustration. While in my artistic eyes, it is very unappealing, it has potential. Also the fact that I can say “I animated this all by myself” is a prize that I love. Greedy, perhaps. It was a great semester and I am looking forward to animating more soon.

Storyboard #4 ( I think)

So, it is time for an update. Once again I am working with Scarr and this time I am moving more that just his eyes. The majority of this video that I am working on literally is just this scene:

Short yes, easy… actually yes.

This whole scene is only three pictures in nine frames. screen-shot-2016-12-12-at-4-50-17-pm

These three head are all that are used in this short animation along with a body image. this may be a short update but the next one will be rather large.

Fire and Light. (lightwrap “quiz” and Post?)

So I did the lightwrap and it was not as straight forward as you would believe.

So with the end of the semester coming up, so did the end of clubs for this year. My club, the anime club, had just finished our last meeting and I wanted to make something kind of goofy for all of them. Taking inspiration for the classic anime Gurren Lagann, I decide to play this the famous quote “Who the Hell do you think we are?”

This was a common phase throughout the series and would usually have some amount of firepower behind it. So, step 1, find a Gurren (the mech)

Well that was easy. Now, get a picture of the…

Oh perfect. And it has been blue screened too! that makes this so much easier. This is because, the bright blue can be easily keyed out than rather needing to erase everything. get so spark gifs and we’re done.

Now this is where I ran into some trouble while making the lightwrap. At first no part wanted to correspond with any other. Then I found out that its all within the composition. The composition size must match. Now I mean every part of the composition. the images, videos, gifs, all must be within the same composition.

At this point, you can follow this tutorial to finish it off.

and so my final product (after a bit of dither) looks like this.

Assessment Quiz

So let’s see where I am at.

I have done 8 out of the 9 quizzes (excluding this one) and I would like to keep up with doing every quiz as they come out which would mean, I would have to include at least 3 more quizzes, making my total 11.

Then I have made 11 posts in total (that are separate from quizzes) and plan on making maybe one or two more, bringing my total to 13 post.

Out of those 11, at least 8 of them go into great detail as to how I made them and if I do the same with the other 2, my total will 10 reflection posts.

Sadly, I’m a bit slow on the commenting department and I think I made at least 2 comments… maybe none.

Finally, I have come to every class a so I have perfect attendance (5).

Now the finally score is…

54! I am way in the safe zone. Also, if I weren’t to make any more posts of any kind, my final score would be 46 which is still really good. Guess I should sip on some tea and let everything play out now huh… welp back to work.

Storyboard #3: Uhm… Spades

So, I have finally finished with backgrounds and have begun with character drawing. Take a look at the first animation.

So how exactly did I get this right? Well, It starts with the first item, the pds.

It begins with the basic head, yes, drawn and colored. Importing it into After Effects and now things get complicated.

If anyone remember, I love using the slider tool for mouths. Here is the link once again.

I built a slider with seven mouth pieces and following the tutorial above, created the the talking mouth.

next came by far the hardest part, the eye sockets. At first I tried to make a mask on the eyes, but this proved to be a failure since the mask would move with the eyes. Then I made the mask on the face and set the eyes behind the face and that proved to be the most effective way in achieving the affect that I wanted.

Storyboard #2 backing things up

Welcome back to storyboard.  So this week I was set and focused on creating the backgrounds for my animation. I had drawn three of them ( still need to get two more done) and brought them into photosho for coloring.

after color:background_02

yes yes, don’t worry, I have a plan for that window. So with five backgrounds, I will have the two characters interacting with each other in a conversation and then by referring back to one of my previous post on sliding in after effects, I will have them talking. It is a very simple animation when the biggest task will be coloring the images.

As for my blander tutorials…

I have learned the basic controls and made a small castle… this might take a while…

Animation Plans.

Welcome to a short series of post that I will be calling Storyboard. Storyboard will be my way of showing the progress for what my plans for this final project will be. Both will derive from an already existing story from my website called Blade of Spades. So far there are two prime choices.

Choice 1

This will be the main idea of hand drawing all my assets and setting them in motion like that of anime

Choice 2

This one is quite different. It goes along the lines of learning how to make a 3d Model by means of this tutorial playlist.

Now there are a few other options I am looking at doing.

One such is to follow what Professor Smith had suggested to me which is to make a moving comic strip for my story which sounds interesting enough to complete.

My final option is to do a weekly tutorial video from things that I have learned to do and demonstrate them here and possibly on my Youtube channel which I really need to restart.
