My final project for motion graphics was suppose to be a super saiyan gif of Lebron James. Even though I didn’t know anything about motion graphics, which probably killed my motivation to finish this project, out of all motion graphics that I’ve seen, the super saiyan was the only one I found interest in. I was trying to rotoscope the animation of the super saiyan glowing hair to fit all 39 layers of of the Lebron James gif. I used adobe photoshop to do the animation of rotoscoping the super saiyan onto the basketball player. I did try to do a shortcut and use the I used a few links that I thought could help me with the process.
I don’t think anything I did was successful but only making an attempt to do it. I didn’t complete the end goal nor got to far enough on the project. I am aware I need to improve on working with photoshop and learning how to use the different tools to do what I want to with it. The reason I chose to do this was because I am a big fan of the anime Dragon Ball Z and I’m a big fan of basketball. Mixing them both together as a final project shows the differences in my character, being that they are 2 totally different forms art. Thats the only inspiration I pulled from attempting to do this project. If my project would’ve been successful I believe the story intention would have been successful.
The whole idea of Dragon Ball Z super saiyan is showing strength, fear, and power in emotions when angry or mad. With basketball players, they show their emotion through the intense game and their attitudes and actions substitute the strength, fear and power in their game. This is why meshing them together is such a brilliant idea like most others do.
For my final proposal I decided to do a motion graphic of basketball players turning super saiyan. This will be a tough project but also an interesting one. The reason I chose this is because I’m a big fan of basketball and Dragon Ball Z. Since there is super saiyan gifs going around social media I thought it would be a good thing to do as a project. The story behind it is that super saiyan is used when someone is filled with anger showing emotion or want to defeat someone or something. With basketball it is within the same borderline. Basketball players show aggression and emotions when playing basketball. How I would do is I would use the most explosive players in the league and any aggression or fierce motion they show I will rotoscope in motion graphic super saiyan over their body.
I will be using photoshop and after effects to get this project done. I googled a couple projects on how to go about starting the project which will guide me through it.
Motion graphic is very tedious and time consuming. It is always hard for me to come up with some ideas on what to do so it takes me longer than usual. The idea I thought about was using a famous music video with dancing and inserting someone else dancing in it but humorously embarrassing.
This is a gif that I am still that working on. I’m a big sports fan so I think any motion graphic I do in this class will include sports. Photoshop is confusing and I am slowly progressing through knowing how to do it. In this picture, which is not yet complete. The basketball player is shooting the ball all the way into the mountains. Which signifies how great of a shooter he is. I used the pen tool to crop out the player, basketball and the hoop from the real photo and place them in the mountains
I am a big fan of Marvel and DC comics and the sports. So imagine how interested I am in doing a fuse with sports and DC and Marvel comics. I was always interested when watching a basketball game or a football game, the trailer of a new marvel or DC movie would come on and they would mixed the sports with the movie. It always meshed perfectly. Usually in the trailers the leader or the strongest superhero is merged with the best player or leader on a team. Instead of making a full video, I would like to make a graphic with superheroes merged with some of the best athletes.
