So the first thing I worked since my last post was making my assets into 3d layers so that when i did move them they would like they were part of the video. It worked great since it also made it easier for me to move it around without it looking so out of place. When using the 3d effect I was able to manipulate my assets in a x,y, and z axis. From what I notice when I used rotation the x-axis mainly affected the way my asset turn from side to side, the y-axis affected came forward or went back from the front of the assets, and the z-axis affected the way the asset would move forward or backwards from the side view.

Once I was done with that part of the video I start to mask the video a bit so that it didn’t look like the assets were just laying on top of the video. So to make it look as a part of the video I mask part of the tail of the dog so it looked like the dog’s tail was in front of the arm.

Screen Shot 2016-05-22 at 5.54.40 PM

I also masked its leg so it didn’t look it was under the eye. Now the assets look more as part of the video than they did when they were in front of the dog.

After taking all these steps my real life doodle project was done and this was the final product.

Videos I watched to get some information on 3D layers in after effects.

I have been working on my real life doodle where I try to make the pool look like the pool is about to eat a small dog that’s rolling around in it.

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 12.29.29 AM

I have drawn out the face of the pool , arms, eye brows, mouth and have manage to make it’s eyes blink as well as making his eyebrows help form an angry face.

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 12.30.15 AM

I also have the pool opening and closing his mouth. I added some teeth to the pool just for fun since I want it to look like it’s going to eat the dog.

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 12.30.50 AM

The last few things I have to do now is get the parts to follow the pool in the video. I have been looking at videos about 3d layers to see if I can use that to make it look more believable.

For my final project I’ve decided to work on a real life doodle.

example:

mission_impossible___real_life_doodles_by_blue_staple_studios-d9az5nm

I decided the I’ll try to make my own video and then work on it. For this project I’m going to be using motion tracking as well as drawing the shapes as eyes and mouths. Making sure that it follows the main object in the video I will be using.

So the video I chose for this project is one where a dog is playing inside an inflatable pool with a water which he turns around and tips it over and can’t really shake it off. Screen Shot 2016-05-04 at 12.47.41 AM

I want to add a face to the pool where it’s getting annoyed at the dog for moving around so much on it and make it seem like its about to attack the dog.

Last week I was working with green screens and I found a green screen of Snoop Dogg hopping around in a trench coat. This quickly reminded me of the movie “Singing in the Rain,” so I decided to take the green screen of Snoop Dogg and add to the movie. First thing I did was bring the Green Screen into after effects.

Screen Shot 2016-04-19 at 5.43.58 PM

Afterwards I had to find what small scene I wanted to use. I ended up choosing a small clipping of the movie where he’s singing in the rain since he feels so great.

Screen Shot 2016-04-19 at 7.24.49 PM

I had time it correctly so that Snoop Dogg would appear at the correct times and I also had to scale so he wasn’t to big or too small. In the end I felt like it came out pretty for just recently starting to use green screens and it was pretty funny.

Recently we started working with text in after effects and we had to choose a video that we wanted to work with. I chose to work with a small part of “That 70’s Show” episode, the episode was when the group went to Canada to buy beer. But on the way back they got stop my Canadian police because Fez had lost his green card.

Screen Shot 2016-03-29 at 9.28.33 PM

I first left the audio on so that I could time the text the best I could with the video. After I had finished all the the text I took the audio off and played it to see how it came out.

Screen Shot 2016-03-29 at 9.29.08 PM

I have finished the video and it came out better than I thought it would and I’m planning to work on it more and there to do some motion tracking. I wanted to try to have the beer text follow Eric’s arms when he flings them around.Screen Shot 2016-03-29 at 9.29.48 PM

So after my first time using the puppet tool I made a gif of a deadpool movie poster. This time after getting used to the puppet tool a bit more I try to fix the arm since I felt it looked a bit awkward when it came in. I also added a bit more in the beginning, I tried to make him look like we was fixing his belt before the hand came and I also added a bit more movement to the hand that came in.

So to make him look like we was fixing his belt I used the asset I had before where he didn’t have his left arm.

Screen Shot 2016-02-29 at 7.31.49 PM

Here I had to add puppet points around the body so that those parts wouldn’t move along with the arm and belt.

Now for the other arm I used the same asset I had before to have it come in and do more movement then it did before.

I add puppet points on the top, the hand and the gun so that it wouldn’t look  as awkward as before when it comes in. This is how it looked at the end.

This is the type of gif I’d like to learn. I just really like how they added the different assets such as the oscar award, which Leo finally won, and the text to add humor to a video clip from one of his movies. To learn how to make these types of gifs I would have to learn motion tracking and text animation.

During the first week in our intro to motion graphics we started talking about animated movie posters, which led to our first assignment. So I decided to work on a deadpool movie poster since the movie was coming pretty soon. The photo below is the movie poster I chose to work with.

deadpool

So I started to think about what work I wanted to do with the poster. In the end I decided I would have him bring in his arm holding the gun. The first asset that I created was the background without the letters and deadpool’s arm holding the gun. After I removed those out I had to created the rest of deadpool’s where his arm was missing.

deadpool

After I had finished with that part I took the arm I had remove from the image and I made a new layer to use it for the arm movement.

arm

I need the same with the letter that were in the image. The reason I need was so that the letter would be rest on top of the arm and not the arm on top the letters.

Untitled-2

Once I had all my assets that I was going to use for this work I passed my file into after effects. In after effects I learned to use the the puppet warp tool to create the movement in deadpools arm. Once I got the movement I liked best I exported on Photoshop into a gif.

This is how my first animated movie poster turned out:
